Zonori

Safety

Zonori lists events. The host organises them, or, on a listing labelled "Listed by Zonori", the organiser it names. That means the practical things below are worth more than any promise we could make.

Before you go

Choose public places for first meetings.

Tell someone where you're going.

Go at your own pace. You don't owe anyone a connect, a drink or a ride.

If something feels off, leave. Then tell us at [email protected].

Reporting a problem

In the app, use Report on a profile, a message (hold it), an event or a circle. Or write to [email protected]. We read every report and act on it within 24 hours.

What happens when you report something

We acknowledge it in one sentence, usually straight away, and we do not wait to have an answer before we do.

If a report says someone is at risk of harm right now, it goes to the front of the queue: we restrict the reported account and take their upcoming events down while we look, before we do anything else.

We keep a copy of what was reported before we touch it, so it cannot be edited away.

Within 24 hours we act: remove content, restrict the account, cancel the event, or explain why we are not doing any of those. Then we write back to you with the outcome.

We log every report, what we did, and how long it took.

Your public page

Your page on zonori.app has no sign-in, so blocking someone doesn't hide it from them. If someone outside Zonori has a link to your page and you want it to stop working, go to Edit profile, then Handle, and tap Stop old links, or change your handle with Keep my old link working turned off. Links with your earlier handles and older profile links stop working within 10 minutes, and nobody else can choose your old handle. This doesn't hide your page from a Zonori member you blocked: they can still see your handle in the app, because hiding it would tell them they were blocked.

What we never do

We never tell the person you blocked.

We never tell the person you reported who reported them.

We never publish who did not come to an event.

We never show your exact location to anybody unless you switch live location on yourself. Nearby never carries a precise position at all — it is rounded to about a kilometre before anyone sees it. Every location setting is off until you switch it on, and each has its own switch.

Who can see where you are

Your city is something you choose. Nearby is rounded to about a kilometre before anyone sees it, and only people in your circles see it. Live location is off until you switch it on, shows to your friends or to the members of the one circle you pick in your city, and switching it off removes your position straight away; the app tells you who will see you before you share. Your exact location is never saved to your profile: while live location is on we hold only your latest position, in a short-lived cache, for four hours at most.

Events with a hidden location

A host can require approval to join. Until you are approved you see the event and the venue's name, but not its address, its map pin, or a link to it.

Before you can post, host or connect

Everyone verifies a phone number first. You must be 13 or over.

In an emergency

Do not report it to us first. Call the local emergency services, then tell us.
